What does the Makerspace provide?

We offer a Brother CS6000i sewing machine, a sewing tool kit, and black and white polyester thread to get you started. Feel free to bring your own thread if you prefer.

Our sewing kits include essentials like scissors, pinking shears, marking pens, measuring tools, pins, and seam rippers, ensuring you have everything on hand to tackle your sewing project with ease.

How do I use it?

  • One-on-One Intro: Schedule a free, hour-long session to learn the basics of the machine and its features.
  • Independent Use: Once you've completed an intro session, reserve the machine for your own projects! Submit an Equipment Reservation request or call us at 847-458-6060 option 7.

What do I need to bring?

  • For the Intro Session: We provide all supplies and equipment for your hour-long learning experience.
  • For Your Own Projects: Bring your fabric, patterns, size guides, and any other materials you need for your project. The Makerspace supplies basic sewing tools and black and white thread, but feel free to bring your own thread in a color that complements your project, as well as any specialty tools your project might require.
