Get hands-on with our Makerspace equipment! We offer a few flexible ways to learn and create:

One-on-One Appointment: Start here if you're new! Book an hour-long session with a staff member for personalized training on the equipment.
Independent Use: After your initial One-on-One training and once you feel confident, you can reserve equipment for independent use (subject to availability).
Quick Questions: Need fast help? Staff may be available for brief questions outside of scheduled appointments.
Online Learning: Access a wealth of knowledge from home! We provide a variety of digital learning resources, like LinkedIn Learning and Creativebug, free for AAPLD cardholders.

During a One-on-One appointment, you'll get an-hour long session with a skilled Makerspace Team Member. These are perfect for:

Basic instruction: Get comfortable with any piece of Makerspace equipment and software.
Learning specific skills: Embroider a name on a baby blanket, install a zipper using a sewing machine or explore advanced features in Tinkercad 3D Design.
Completing a project: Get assistance using equipment like Cricut and the heat press to make a custom t-shirt.

Here's what you can expect:

Appointments last up to 1 hour.
AAPLD cardholders get 3 appointments per month, all others cardholders get 1 per month.
Appointments may be scheduled with 48 hours notice and up to 2 weeks in advance.
Come prepared by bringing any materials or information needed for your project. Staff can help you plan when scheduling.

A few things to keep in mind:

One-on-One sessions are not for: In-depth private tutoring or completing your project for you.
Missed appointments: We hold appointments for 15 minutes. Late arrivals won't extend the session. No-shows count towards your monthly limit.

Prerequisite: A completed One-on-One training session is REQUIRED before you can work independently or book equipment.

Equipment Reservations last for one hour but may be extended based on availability.
Bookings require a minimum of 4 hours advance notice. Please wait for a confirmation email from Makerspace staff before coming in.
Always use caution when working with equipment; if you are unsure, ask staff for help.
Reservations are unlimited but subject to availability.
Be prepared by bringing all necessary materials and files with you.
Equipment use is for personal projects ONLY.
