What is a sewing machine?

A sewing machine is a machine that uses a needle to sew fabric or material together with thread. The Makerspace provides access to basic and heavy duty sewing machines.

How can I use it?

Contact us for an hour long 1-on-1 appointment OR if you are already experienced at using a sewing machine, Contact Us to simply reserve the equipment.

What materials can I use?

The Makerspace provides black and white polyester thread along with a basic sewing tool kit. If you prefer another thread color, you are welcome to provide your own thread. Project material must be approved by Makerspace Staff.

Embroidery Machines

What is an embroidery machine?

An embroidery machine uses a needle and thread to create patterns on textiles. Choose from many pre-loaded designs OR import your own .PES file to create a custom design.

What materials can I use?

The Makerspace provides either cutaway or water soluble stabilizer and thread for one project. If you are embroidering more than one item, please provide your own 100% polyester embroidery thread along with your material that you are embroidering. Materials embroidered must be approved by Makerspace associates.

Keep in mind....

  • The machines are not capable of embroidering fluffy sherpa or thick towel material
